...do I have to keep my two DDs and salary with them?
I opened an account, transferred my salary and DDs to FD - my transfer date was the 12th October and the bonus was also paid then. I am now going to open an account with Halifax for their £100 switching bonus and I want to use the DDs that I have with FD for the purpose of switching. I'll be keeping my FD account open because I like it and because I have the 8% Regular Saver with them as well as one of their e-Savings accounts (to avoid the £10 monthly fee, when it kicks in).
I have an appointment with Halifax on Saturday (to close the Reward Current Account I opened a few weeks ago and to then open a new account in order to be eligible for the bonus) and I was wondering if it was 'too soon' to be switching my DDs and salary out of my FD account. I only wonder this because I know FD check that the switch has happened successfully 25 days after the transfer date. Do I need to wait for the check they do after 25 days or shall I just go ahead with this on Saturday?

FD say (on their website) that the final check is done after one month, not 25 days.
I'd be wary of closing/opening accounts on the same weekend, ie non-working, day at Halifax. You may not register as a 'new customer'. Could you allow a week or so between closing and opening? The offer is open until 2nd December (from memory), though of course they could pull it before then if the take-up is high.0 -
I checked the letter FD sent to me and it says 25 days on there but you're right, it does say one month on their website.
I was just thinking about that and even though I have been assured over the phone and by email that this is possible and I would be eligible for the bonus, I think I am going to wait for at least one week, possibly ten days as this will then also cover my 25 days/1 month check from First Direct.0
