Blue Badge Parking

I've posted a petition on the Primeministers e-petitions site asking that the rules for the badge are revised. My son is six and suffers chronic Crohns disease, but we are not entitled to disability mobility anly the care element. But when he flares, which is often, we need instant access to toilets and he has great difficulty in walking.
Please read the petition and sign if you wish.

Get a form from your local social services who issue the Blue Badge and fill it in.You do not need to be getting DLA to get a blue badge
3 You can get a badge if:
you receive the higher rate of the mobility component of the Disability Living Allowance;
you receive a War Pensioners' Mobility Supplement ;
you use a motor vehicle supplied for disabled people by a Government Health Department;
you are registered blind;
you have a severe disability in both upper limbs, regularly drive a motor vehicle but cannot turn the steering wheel of a motor vehicle by hand even if that wheel is fitted with a turning knob; or
you have a permanent and substantial disability which means you are unable to walk or have very considerable difficulty in walking. In this case you may be asked to answer a series of questions to help the local authority determine whether you are eligible for a badge. People with a psychological disorder will not normally qualify unless their impairment causes very considerable, and not intermittent, difficulty in walking.
The last one should apply to your circumstances

Apply anyway. My son was turned down first time - he has severe learning difficulties, is deaf, asthmatic and has mobility /co-ordination problems. He has his for several years after being in a plaster cast for 18months. Then suddenly they refused to renew it. The first appeal failed, then the second O.T. reviewed it and we won. It really does annoy me though that so many people abused the badges and the spaces. (Forgot - he also has renal problem.). Go for it and see what happens.:rotfl:0

I got my Blue Badge long before I got the DLA Mobility component.
Having a Blue Badge does not mean to say that you can get a parking place just like that either.0 -
If you think your son should be getting DLA (Mobility) then contact the CAB who will be able to advise you.

You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset.

Apply to your local council (should be info on their website possibly County Council thought not Borough if this applies) for a blue badge. My daughter has one and we only receive higher rate of the Care Component as she is too young to receive Mobility Component. As above:-

Hi
Have you thought about applying for a RADAR key. I've seen some posts on this site about it - just do a search for RADAR. You pay around £3-£5 for a key which allows you access to the disabled toilets in the scheme, nationwide. This might solve one of your problems.
As for the other, You don't have to be getting DLA to get a blue badge. Get your doctor on your side too. Alot of its down to what he puts on the form too.

Apply for a blue badge - although the chances of ever finding a space are slim - all the middle managers in their personality extension cars seem to get first dibs on them.0

At one time there was a card scheme for anyone with CD or similar, where shops etc., always let them use loos (even staff ones) if they needed to in a hurry. I don't know if these cards still exist, but this site may be able to advise:
