They said no to my claim

Hi I am sure someone can advise.

I called the PPI claim line at LTSB and asked them to look into a couple of my accounts as PPI was included and I hadn't been told. I have just received a three page letter outlining the reason why they have reached a decision that I don't have a case. Can you advise me of the next steps to take.

Thanks

You dont have to be physically told. you would have been given documents which you should/would have read and signed to agree to it.

Was this a face to face sale or over the internet.

What reasons have they given for declining your claim.

First you need to read the three page letter carefully and ask yourself honestly if you had a weak complaint or if the Bank are wrong to dismiss it. If it's the latter, you can refer your case to the Ombudsman. Details will have been sent with your letter, but they are also at the link below:

Do be aware that the Ombudsman process is currently taking in excess of a year.

What were your reasons for complaint?
what evidence exists to support your reasons?

There is nothing wrong with having PPI. The issue is whether there was wrongdoing in selling it to you or setting it up. Without knowing your reasons no-one can comment on what your next action should be.

  • Thanks for the information. Unfortunately I don't have the paperwork so I cant check.

You can't check the three page letter which will have answered your complaint point-by-point?
You can't simply remember what your complaint reasons were?
  • No I have the three page later and I can remember the complaint reasons however I don't have the original contracts to check. My complaint was based on the fact that the loan and credit card were taken out over the phone and I wasn't aware that a proportion of the payments I made were being allocated to PPI.

There is nothing to check on your contracts, I have yet to hear of any contract not showing the PPI if it was applied. The only exceptions are credit card agreements where the PPI was taken out later on.
You would have been sent the contracts to sign after your telephone sale, so how you can truthfully say you weren't aware of the PPI is beyond me. Did you always sign contracts without reading them?
  • And are you always so rude!

    I believe we're done here...

If you remain dissatisfied with the Bank's response then I refer you back to post#3 of this thread.
