Eastern area now: E: 15.63 (incl. VAT) G: 5.06 (incl. VAT)
Low user too: E: 688 kWh /an G:2404 kWh/an
but prefer Ebico's equitable/no penalty payment options.Free thinker.:cool:0 -
Does anyone know what the new SW electricity rate will be? We are with good energy at the moment which will increase to 15.45p/unit plus a daily standing charge of 14.25p.0

Thats very kind of you, thank you Ken. It looks pretty well neck and neck then, perhaps just a few pence a day difference. I won`t change now but have used ebico in a previous house and know that the company is a good one, as is good energy0

Prices for Good Energy (from 5th Dec 2012) here:
http://www.goodenergy.co.uk/media/BAhbBlsHOgZmSSIdNTA4NzlmNzYxZGVkNjgwMDAyMDAyY2MzBjoGRVQ/GoodEnergytariffs.pdf
As you correctly say, the price per kWh for the SW region is 15.45p plus a daily standing charge of 14.25p
Ebico price (from link above by Ken68) indicates price from ebico will be 16.87p
So thats a difference in unit price of 1.42p
So unless you are using over 10 kWh per day (3650 kWh per year), then you will be better off with Ebico.
If you are a high user, consuming 3650 kWh per year or more, you should not even be considering Ebico who are only good (especially for electricity) for low users.
Consult a comparison site to find the best deal for you0 -
I see that the coop are lowering prices a little, so have now compared 3 companies for our electricity usage of 2651 units pa. I have used the coop tariff as it is today, announcement just made this morning so reduction not factored in, I presume
good energy: £434
coop: £413
ebico: £447
so as things stand right now, I can save £20 a year just for a few minutes to fill in a form. I want a simple transparent tariff with no penalty0 -
thank you wywth but my maths ability is good. Simple sums really as I am not going with any of the big utilities. My actual saving, including the nitty gritties, is £67 pa, so a very worthwhile exercise0

It's not really a question of sums, but rather of having all the data available from all the suppliers to find the best possible deal for you.
But as you brought up the matter of your mathematical ability ...
Using a comparsion site indicates the following annual cost with the following suppliers:
Good Energy (100% South West) - £444
Co-op (Pioneer) - £406 (based on 2% reduction announced today)
but also worth considering, taking into consideration you say you will not go with any of the big 6:
Ovo (New Energy Fixed) - £406
iSupplyEnergy (iFix) - £385
And you can get cashback too via a comparison site (using special MSE links) if you switch to Good Energy, Ovo or iSupplyEnergy. :beer:0
