big spend day today as it's shopping day..But we are going to try and do most from the likes of wilkos - iceland then if we must prob go to tesco...Do you think £85 aweek on shopping is a lot for a family of 4

a few weeks ago I would have said no, as we were spending about that for a family of 5

However, I went to the oldstyle board and now my weekly tesco shop is around the £30 mark for a family of 5, inc. nappies for a baby. I reckon you could get it down to at least £50 ;)

We meal plan like crazy and only buy what we need for the meals and breakfast, lunch etc. We have dropped a brand on certain things and are trying value brands for other things (some good, some not so good). We shop in Tesco but have been buying fruit and veg from local grocers. If you want to drop your food bill, i highly recommend posting your receipt up on the oldstyle board and let them scrutinise it and give you some tips.

£1.35 on lunch and £1 entry into Grand National sweepstake at work - well you never know, might be lucky!

Just totted up my total for the week (since Sat morning) and it comes to just under a tenner - can't remember the last time I spent that little in a week but it's probably years ago!!

£2.18 on lunch. Next week I'll try not to spend anything on lunch in the office. Will bring in soup or something.

I'm bidding on a faulty iPod Mini - it's going to go for a bit more than usual because it's just the battery which is knackered. I have a spare (new) battery, so I can fix it up easily. I'm at my maximum bid at the moment, so if anyone else outbids me, I'll let it go. There are plenty of broken ipods on ebay...
