switching from npower standard to npower better tariff via comparison site?

Well I have just done the same did not know I would not get the cashback. Wonder if the change will still go ahead now. It was the only way I thought I could change tarrifs.
I thought I would just loose the £50 rebate but saying that I had my electric with them for 18 months and never recieve any £50 rebate.0 -
You can only get cashback if you switch suppliers, not just switch tariff. Why would Npower pay you cashback just to switch tariff?
They've paid me cashback via MoneySupermarket via Quidco for the past 3 years as I switch tariff roughly every November. In fact, the first time I switched I got double cashback - £30 from Quidco and £20 from MoneySupermarket as the latter had a special offer on at the time!
Presumably they pay because you're committing to another 12+ months.
I'm about to do the same via another comparison site (as MoneySupermarket are no longer on Quidco), switching from Sign Online 24 to Energy Online 2014, once I confirm with nPower that they'll waive the 'early exit' fee on SOL 24 (apparently they'll do this due to the imminent price hike - over 17% in my case)
Not really expecting any cashback - look on it as a bonus..0 -
oh that sounds reassuring

let's see what happens.
how does moneysupermarket actually pay? i admit i didn't check that.
quidco and topcashback they show tracked amounts.
but with MSM i don't have an account, wondering how they pay.0 -
I think I received a separate cheque that first time from MoneySupermarket (on top of the Quidco). Took about 6 months to turn up, so was a nice surprise.
The other times it was just a normal Quidco cashback for using MoneySupermarket to make a dual-fuel transfer.0 -
I rang them yesterday to do the same and the Lady could not help as the Npower account is in my wifes name. But she said try the uswitch site and you will get the £30.00 as well as the saving so i have done it. Good luck0

Just setup a switch (via USwitch) from my SOL24 to Energy Saver 2014, as I confirmed over the phone with nPower that I won't be stung for the £40 early exit fee. They said that's only applied if you change to a new supplier, not if you change tariffs within nPower.
It's quite a nice tariff, 16% less than what SOL24 will go up to for me - the gas standing charge has almost halved. So I'm pretty much back to square one.
£28 from USwitch has already tracked on Quidco as well.0 -
As a quick follow up to this, my £28 USwitch cashback has been confirmed today at Quidco.
So it's definitely worth using comparison sites to switch to a new tariff with your existing supplier to get that extra cashback on top (4th time I've done it with NPower and I'll do the same next year when my current tariff expires
