Halifax TMPP is a multi segment policy. It could be life assurance, critical illness cover, MPPI or income protection or a combination of these. All of these cover self employed. So, who told you that they didnt? Plus, what does your TMPP actually cover as you dont say?

  • i just called them this morning and asked them about the tmp insurance whether it be for sickness, un employment etc, i said if your self employed does that mean we cant claim any of what wev'e been paying her reply was a simple yes!! also said we should of been informed of this ( which we never have) even though we did question it a long while back.

so the complaint has now been logged :T hopefully this means we can get some money back things are really hard financially atm so would really help pay off some debt!

    thanks for your reply x
  • but knowing our luck we will get 0!! :( x

Halifax are fairly easy going on refunding the PPI element of the TMPP. Often they dont even bother checking but auto payout. It is the other segments of the TMPP that they investigate fully (and those usually result in rejection).

but you can claim on policy. it covers self-employed so dont think you cant. From I remember some of the policies around 2001-03 had no onerous conditions too.
  • hi, i'm new so sorry if this post isn't in the correct place! we have been paying tmpp with the halifax for 11 years. in march 2011 my husband became extremely unwell for 3 months and couldnt work, he is self employed. the halifax paid our mortgage payments after we sent in all the correct docs/sick notes etc. after the 3 months my husband was told by the halifax he could try and have a phased return to work doing no more than 15 hours a week. he has been doing from june 2011 to now. the halifax say they will pay us for 24 months. what happens after the 24 months??? my husband is still going to be struggling to work to his usual capacity. any help appreciated.:)

You are better off talking in the benefits section. Your case is not a mis-sale issue. Indeed, its a good job he has the insurance as you are going to benefit from it significantly.

Without savings and insurance to kick in after 24 months then you are going to be reliant on benefits. Hence, why posting in the benefits section would be more beneficial for you.
