Barclaycard (zero content, just a rant)

Got a phonecall from Barclaycard to tell me that as they knew they weren't allowed to contact me by phone for marketing purposes would I like to receive marketing by email or post. Somehow they failed to see how this was contradictory in any way. Hopefully the last of many such phonecalls as I'm switching to another credit provider who will hopefully pester me less for stuff they know I don't want.

Out of curiosity, was it a lady with an American accent?

I got one of these calls from an American lady.

She said she knew I'd opted out of junk calls, and just wanted to make sure I still didn't want to be contacted. I said yes, I don't want to be contacted.

Then she said "now while you're on the phone we have some new services......"

    What a cheek!
Here I go again on my own....

When I received the call, I was asked how I would like to receive information from Barclaycard in the future.

I told her the same way as I received it now.

She then asked me how I was receiving my information at present - I told her if she was phoning from Barclaycard she would have that detail in front of her.

    End of call.

Phoned Barclaycard to complain (after getting a landline from saynoto0870.com :D ) The lady confirmed it really was someone calling on behalf of Barclaycard - turns out they had outsourced this work to a third party company.

The way the voice was on the end of the phone, it sounded like one of those 'congratulations, you have won a holiday' calls.

Yes, using a mass dialer because I'd hung up after a few moments silence and was going to 1471 when someone spoke up. First thought was that it was some kind of scam, guess it wasn't just me thinking that either!
