    If it's over $1000 you should definately shop around to get the best value from your US Dollars... dont automatically go for paypal. However if it's a smallish amount, it wouldnt make a dramatic difference.

    Ok, for instance my last Paypal payment was $231. Paypal deducted $9.31

    Of course I can claim back the deduction on my tax return as it's business income.

    What buy and sell rates do they do on the currency exchange? Other services charge no explicit fees, but simply make their money on the spread - these tend to work out better for you.

    Not sure. Nearly all the media companies that pay me via Paypal do not get a fee charged for the transaction. The odd one does for some unknown reason.
