Mis sold insurance?

My husband had a loan with nationwide a few years ago and took ppi. At the time he was told he should take out the ppi with the loan and knowing nothing about finances etc he took it. He thinks he can possibly claim, i am thinking probably not. can anyone advise? thanks

Does he have proof they said that, else its his word versus theirs

Also, PPI is not illegal, there are many cases of where PPI is a sensible choice.

If there is no proof, then the case is very weak.

Typically, no-one has proof of what was said. So, without evidence to support an allegation you would expect to be rejected unless a) there is a failing identified elsewhere b) there is actually something on their files that backs your allegation up or c) you get lucky on an auto payout decision.

Your allegations will not hold up without proof.
  • I am also claiming against Nationwide for PPI on my mortgage. I was pushed into it, and didn't need it as I am entitled to full company sick pay, and I also already had accident/health insurance that pays out if I am off work too.
When I came to filling in the questionnaire, I left the PPI account number blank as I didn't have it to hand at the time. I filled in the mortgage account number, and then went back to the PPI number afterwards. It turns out they have the same account number, both are with Nationwide. Is this common as the Questionnaire intimated they would/should differ?
