asda yankee candles. same or not?

just ordered some yankee candles from a yankee site. But i just found out asda do them. Are they the same yankee candles with different jars and name or are they not yankee candles?...anyone know?

I am sure that when these first appeared in Asda there was a thread about them, but I cannot find it so I may be losing my remaining marbles

I have bought several of the Simply Home wax tarts both in Asda and in a Hallmark outlet and they certainly seem to last as long and smell as strong as the Yankee wax tarts. I cannot comment on the candles as I only buy the tarts (I don't buy Yankee's expensive wax tart holders/burners though, I find that Sainsburys often have oil burners for £3.50 or less that do the job fine) but I have been quite happy with the Simply Home tarts.

I have bought some Simply Home candles (tarts) from Home Bargains a while back, so I think they are just a part of the range. These look nice jars and cheaper too

The simply home range is made by Yankee. I live near a Yankee outlet store and they occasionally have the simply home range in - afaik they are all made the same but it's just a different range of scents, with different jars.

thanks for the reply and yes they are yankee candles, just anther of there range just like Home Classics yankee. i must admit the jars dont look as nice. I've picked up a sample same scent as anther one i got so i can compare.

They are real Yankee Candles - you can imagine the backlash if they were not.

I actually prefer the Simply Home style jars, as I think they look nicer and I like a lot of the scents. However, the 'lamp shades' we have [bought with the other jar style] don't fit on the top properly, which is a shame. As noted by Katra, the Simply Home jars are slightly smaller, which might be something to keep in mind if comparing prices.

The Simply Home range is made by Yankee Candle. As other posters have said they have a different range of scents and the jars have a simpler style.

Another important difference is that the Simply Home candles are smaller. A large Simply Home candle is 19oz compared to the large Yankee Candle housewarmer jars which are 22oz. Similar difference for the medium candles.

In my experience the scent is nowhere near as strong and the burn time is a lot less. False economy for me.

As far as I can tell they are exactly what they sell in Debenhams but a lot cheaper.

I have some of what they call the sampler size rather than the tarts. Where would I find cheap holders?

I bought a Sampler from Asda before Christmas for £1 and have seen in other stores for about £1.80, they lasted the same and same scent.

I haven't tried the Simply home medium or large jars yet but the medium jar is £8 in Asda and £16 upwards in the Yankee shop near me.
I prefer the more expensive jars though, but going to have a look in the sales.

You can sometimes get the large jars on discount from Asda too at around £8. The fragrances are fewer, but they are decent all the same. Do check online - they deliver to stores for free


Tip - when you get it home, don't balance the packaging on the edge of the table in your hall. I have a non-jarred candle, after a little misdemeanour. It needs careful love and attention (and I probably need to find something to put it in) but it smells more so than in its jar, even when not lit. Not recommended, but could not bear it to go to waste
