Charity Grants/Donations/HELP!!

Hi

I am raising money for The Childrens Hospital Charity which is based in Sheffield (Reg charity no: 505002) by doing a bike ride from London to Paris in April 2013 (300 miles in 4 days). I have to raise quite a bit of sponsorship and have written to lots of companies but struggling to get anywhere with them. Does anyone know of any companies where i could apply for a Grant or something similar as i have heard of companies in the past who set aside money and consider applications from individuals raising money for charity. Have you thought about asking Sheffield Childrens Hospital if you can spend a day in the main reception area rattling a bucket?

I spent 7.5 hours on the streets of Sheffield with a bucket and managed to raise £144 which is great but need to get loads more sponsors or other forms of raising lots of money ideally in one big hit
