Broken Laptop Screen

Hi, I purchased a HP laptop from Argos in April of this year. The screen has recently stopped working so I took it back to Argos and they basically said they don't deal with laptop problems and to ring HP directly. After ringing them they said screen problems are not covered under warranty and I will have to pay for a new screen......which is £310. I was just wondering do Argos have a legal responsibility to help due to the 12 month warranty or is it correct what they said? Thanks.

Your contract is with the seller.
If the screen fault is a result of physical damage, it will not be covered under warranty. If a result of one or more failed components then it should be.How do I add a signature?0 -
If you have broken it yourself, a replacement screen is probably near to £70 plus fitting.0

Argos are seriously bad for this, trying to fob of customers. Bet you spoke to one of the lowly sales staff who probably don't have a clue.
Best of contacting argos directly.Mansion TV. Avoid at all cost's :j0
