hi, I understand people can get a better deal ie money off the packages you have if you ring up and say certain things like i am leaving and telling them sky deals etc...especially as we dont have sky now
just wondered has anyone made a saving/got an upgraded package deal ie added movies for the same price they pay already or got upgrded equipment like a better set top box etc
my hubby will have to ring as it is in his name and he just wants to know the best thing to say...he isnt too good at bluffing bless him...not that he would need to bluff we are thinking about moving to sky but want to make sure we get the best deal as we seem to be paying lots...about £80 for phone broadband and tv (just about everything but no movie or sports)
any ideas or experiences would be gret thanks

If you express your disapointment in the loss of Sky One, Sky News, Sky Sports News, and mention that you have looked at sky, and you are wanting to join Sky. They wont want to lose you as a customer, so they will offer you deals.donny_osmonds_mad_fan wrote: »hi, I understand people can get a better deal ie money off the packages you have if you ring up and say certain things like i am leaving and telling them sky deals etc...especially as we dont have sky now

Call up retentions - 0800 073 0591 - they will give yout he best deal
You will though, be tied in to a new 12 month contract.Never do things tomorow when you can do them today.0 -
Just to let you know, my OH is named on our Virgin account - but you can set up a password to enable you to speak to them, or he can gove 'permission' for them to speak to you also.
Last time I called, I just asked how I went about cancelling my phone & broadband, they put me on hold, came back & said would I stay with them if they reduced x,y & z, 'Oh, yes that would be great' They didn't ask any questions, & I didn't have to 'make up' a story!
Don't forget it's a free call from a VM line on 150 also.
I am in the future you know...
...9 hours ahead to be exact !:D0 -
right he has just rung up and for the same price....it was £70.50 we are now adding

seperate modem box
v+ set top box

that sounds like a bargain to me
so it is worth it lol
plus we keep the calls unlimited0 -

Say you've had a better offer from sky - as at the moment, Virgin are doing Telephone, TV, broadband and Mobile phone for £40 a month. Say you've had a better offer from sky - as at the moment, Virgin are doing Telephone, TV, broadband and Mobile phone for £40 a month. And £30 a month without the mobile.
but that is 2mb broadband and talk evenings and weekends.
As for your deal - what were you on before?Never do things tomorow when you can do them today.0 -

Thats not a bad deal!! - TV is free anyway, talk unlimited usually is £25 and 2mb internet should be £18 so less than half price! How long is the offer on the account for though, as it could be 3 months, 6 months, 1 year or longerNever do things tomorow when you can do them today.0 -
Your best bet is to go to sky and work out the price of the package that suits you so that you know the deal because when you go onto virgin they will try and rubbish the sky package, our initial call to telewest they said sky b.b was terrible, c.s was poor etc then offered £8 off a month on what we chose, i think they thought we were bluffing about leaving.
So we made the decision to go to sky as there package was a good £30 a month cheaper and over a few years we would save hundreds and we called bt to arrange reconnection thats when telewest bounced back and offered us TV inc movies and sport, 2mb b.b and line rental with talk unlimited, the v+ box and the other box transfered to the bedroom for £53 a month compared to the £90 odd they were previously looking for. We have that package for at least a year or till we see a better deal. The more i save the more i can spend:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -
Yes, I rang Sky the other day, and they are offering the top TV package (including movies and sports) for 43.50 and unlimited phone for a fiver, plus 8mb broadband for a fiver per month. I bought a sky plus box which they have waived the installation fee for, plus we don't have to pay the tenner per month rental as we have either movies or sports with them (down grading after 2 months to just movies as they are giving us the max for half price for 2 months).
Virgin said that they could give us a 2mb broadband, plus a few extra channels for about 75p cheaper - I told them that my broadband at the moment was 4mb, so they were DOWNGRADING me, which is unacceptable, and I would still be paying more for less, so she agreed that she would waive the extra 8 pounds per month for a year - I refused as it would then be put up again, and I was getting the benefit of the sky plus for free too. I couldn't give notice yet though because I don't want to install Sky until June and they can't accept notice of more than 30 days!!!!!
Downfall is that I have to get a BT line and this could be expensive if there has never been a BT line in your house before. In mine there was but this was many, many years ago, so we may have to end up paying 124.99!!!!! Which I am not happy about - any ideas how to lower this cost?0 -
hi, we are happy with the deal with got ie a whole load more for same money, i really dont want to deal with BT if i have to as i have awful customer service in the past and dont want to have to shell out for a new line put in and also have to pay £99 upfront for a sky plus box etc...this way outside equipment stays the same, bill dates the same, no mucking with companies changing etc plus for sky you have to have BT and sky come out with virgin its just one to get the box...dont mind a few quid more a mth for less upfront if u get my drift

thanks everyone though
