Hi and any help?

Hi,
This is my first post here so first things first HELLO:)

Now my question is this, a few months ago a friend said they'd been misold the extra credit put on their credit card and as it was misold they had their debt written off and likened it to PPi claim back etc. So I was put in touch with a agent of Highbridge investments they said they could check if my card may have been missold (please note the agent came to me this wasn't done via cold calling etc) So ive filled in the relevant paper work etc and they have said I was missold the card and they would take over the debt and make the claim themselves and now the debt was theirs I shouldn't make any payments etc. but im still receiving bills now with added cost for late payments and now the card has been stopped. The card company are still ringing me up. Ive spoken to the agent they said just keep passing on any corrospondance to Highbridge as the debt is now theirs. Im not so sure, I think I may have been scammed:o. Anyone else out their heard of this or has anyone any advise as Ive got(had) a very good credit raying and always make any repayments on time and if I can in full.

Okay question number one, when you applied for your credit card you did it in good faith yeah, nobody held a gun to your head and made you sign?

So, what makes you think you have been 'mis-sold' your credit card?

Check your credit report if you've missed payments as it might just be trashed.

Kiss goodbye to credit for a while.
  • I have had many dealings with Highbridge investments.

For a fee of £49.99 I GUARANTEE that I will attempt to recover your money from Highbridge investments.

What is more, this is likely to take no more than [STRIKE]one minute[/STRIKE] a week.

    Yep,

They said its 'missold' when they keep upping the limit on your card without first checking on your financial situation from when they first sold you the card.

    :) yeh thanks for that;)

The agent was a friend of someone I know and Id hoped its legitimate. One of those 'well I will see if I have a claim, if not no probs'
Has nobody else heard of this one way or the other?
  • The problem is, whilst you were being given increased credit limits, you were under no obligation whatsoever to actually spend and utilise that credit limit.

It was not mis-sold to you, it was mis-spent by yourself.

I think that you can kiss goodbye to any fee paid to these cowboys, and your priority now is not recovering that, but speaking to your credit card company to try and repair the damage that has been caused there.
  • Mike's right, as you suspected, you've been scammed. Write to your card company, explain what has happened and they may be lenient on charges and on your credit file.
I'm a qualified accountant but please make sure you get expert advice as any opinion is made in a private capacity.
