Can someone advise me on a laptop to play the sims 3 on please?

Options
I know this game takes a lot of guts in a machine to play properly as I had to upgrade the graphics card in my old pc to play it. My pc died on me and now I have decided Id like a laptop but I understand that the graphics in a laptop are integrated so cant be swapped and changed like in a pc.
Ive spotted this one, HP G6 which I like the sounds of, can anyone advise me whether it has what it takes to play the sims 3?

  • Intel® Core™ i5-2450 processor
  • Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium
  • 6Gb RAM
  • 1Tb hard drive
  • 15.6 inch display
  • DVD SuperMulti drive
  • Integrated graphics
  • 802.11 b/g/n WiFi
  • SRS Surround Sound
  • 3x USB 2.0; HDMI; multi card reader
  • Altec Lansing speakers
  • HP G6 laptop - Purple

Is there much difference between the i5 and i7 processor as another one Ive seen is the i7 but a but of a leap in price difference.

Thanks :)

processor will not make massive difference to gaming, your big issue is the graphics adaptor, which the one you have shown will be using the intel intergrated chipset, which quite plainly is garbage and would only just play the sims 3 in the lowest of graphics settings, and could struggle on some of the add ons.

what sort of budget are you looking at as that would be a good starting point and what other uses do you plan on using it for?

on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
    10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
    20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)
  • thanks for that :)

budget is around £600. Main uses are just for browsing and the sims 3 lol thats all I use it for really lol sad I know!
  • also Ive gone for laptop as I like the idea of it being more portable around the house etc but I know then Im stuck to buying one with suitable integrated graphics, would another desktop possible be the better option and be able to upgrade graphics card?

ok so more silly questions, do you want to spend all £600 and get the best system you can for the money, or is £600 the max and you owuld prefer to spend less if you can get something which would be 'up to the job' of what you want?

my quick thoughts on rough spec

upto the budget probably looking at
intel corei3/i5 with a dedicated graphics (gt630 ish) card 6gb ram and 500+gb hdd
or a top of the range AMD A10 (trinity) processor with possibility of a duel graphics set up, 8gb ram and 750+gb hdd

    for less
lower range AMD trinity A6 processor 4-6gb ram and 500+gb hard drive for £450ish
or i3 with a low power dedicated card (nvidia 610) 4-6gb ram and 500gb+ hdd for £450 ish

I'd recommend a computer for playing the sims. When I play the sims on my laptop it drains battery really quickly.
  • Cisco the lenovo one looks interesting! how good is the brand? never used them before

Carly what laptop do you use? Is that the only fault youve found from playing on a laptop?

BTW, if you don't mind paying £615, you could consider customize laptop.
The main pros is you got a higher resolution screen.
    It comes up with £615
