Is there a difference between cardholder repayment protector & PPI?

First time posting and hoping to get some help please!!
I have been reading through many of the claim back PPI post's and have been spurred on to go do it myself and also help my friends and relatives to do the same. Although we are starting to get some successes I knew I would come up against some hurdles!!
My first hurdle is with LTSB, as recommended by MSE I sent of my letter of complaint along with all the relevant information such as, account details, copies of bank statements and old addresses and obviously what I was complaining about and why.
The complaint I put in was for PPI on an Accucard dating from June 2001 to July 2006. I received my letter from LTSB two weeks after I sent my complaint in, the letter states that they could not find any evidence of me paying PPI and to call them if I wanted to discuss further of which I did. When I called them I said it clearly states on the copies of the bank statements I sent to them approx £15 per month cardholder repayment protector,I say approx!! Because that figure did fluctuate depending on my balance.
LTSB they are adamant that I was not paying PPI and I realise it does say cardholder repayment protector and not PPI but I thought it was the same thing? Obviously not!! Lloyds would not discuss CRP.
No one at Lloyds really knows anything about Accucard I keep getting transferred from one department to another and then all I get is in the end, go in to your local branch!! I have but they are the same "we know nothing about Accucard"
Do I need to write to them again and claim for CRP and not PPI?
Sorry for the long winded post. Any advice would be great!!
Cheers,

Accucard was not originally owned by Lloyds, you need to find out if your card was bought by lloyds, or if it was paid off before they bought it.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0

Hi -taff
According to the net Accucard was bought by Lloyds TSB in 20020 -
If they owned your card then, write back and tell them they haven't investigated fully because youve provided evidence of paying PPI [even if it was called something else, and yes, CRP is also PPI], and you await their response.
It doesn't matter that they haven't heard of it, it was a product they sold, and they have to invesitgate accordingly.
If you've received anything that includes an ombudsman leaflet, they're not likely to re-visit your case, and you have 6 months from their repsonse to go to the ombudsman.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
Hi -taff
Many thanks for the reply. Looks like I'm going to FOS with it then as I did get the FOS leaflet in with the letter from Lloyds.
Thanks again, keep up the great work everyone.0
