Carer’s Allowance

I've checked and I think my mam will qualify for Carer's Allowance, she is 61 does not get state pension as she has not paid any NI, she looks after the person for more than 36 hours, she does no earn over £100 as she does not work, however I noticed the claim form asks for the carers partner details, my dad works full time will this affect anything ? I dont know why they ask for partner details as a quick check just asks about the carer. Sorry if this doesnt make sence my head is a littel foggy today.

Does the person your Mum cares for get any of these benefits?
The person you care for must get one of these benefits:- Attendance Allowance
- Disability Living Allowance - the middle or highest care rate
- Constant Attendance Allowance at or above the normal maximum rate with an Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit
- Constant Attendance Allowance at the basic (full day) rate with a War Disablement Pension

Your dad's earnings won't make any difference. No, I don't know why they ask either.
Does the person she looks after lives alone and get income related benefits? If your mum claims carers allowance for someone in that situation, that could reduce the income of the person she cares for. She needs to get this checked out.0 -
Thanks for the responces guys, yes the person gets Mid rate DLA and low rate mobility as far as I know they dont get any income related benefits but will double check that, I know she has got some paprer work and on the DLA claim is says, I have awarded you the Middle rate £51.85 a week from blah until blah as you need supervising right through the day to prevent substanical danger to you or others. My mam does about 5 hours a day and then most of the day sat and sun so does more than the 35, this is mainly making sure they are ok, cooking, remining and watching taking meds etc, It just threw me on the application form when it asks for the careres partners details0

Sorry for chirping in a little late, but I just wanted to point out the reason that CA ask for partner details.
This is mainly for benefit checks, if for instance the person wishing to claim CA is on a joint claim for benefits which is in the partner's name.0 -
That indeed does make sence RL1230
