Pay the landlord using the address at which to serve notices on your AST - bankers draft is fastest, personal cheque at a push, turn up with cash if you have their home address.

Thanks, it's a half hour drive but I think I'll take a drive there tomorrow just so I can get this sorted out I'm in no mood to deal with the EA!

I've had a snotty Email back from the EA saying I am not getting a copy of the Letter of Agreement as it s confidential and that I need to take their word for it...their words are "we are not ripping of your landlord".

Any idea what I do now. Is this Email ok to accept as confirmation? I really don't understand why the Landlord STILL has not made any response to me or the EA by the sounds of it, doesn't he want paying?!

Common sense dictates that you take this with a pinch of salt. You have no contractual obligation to pay them, and the person who you have to pay hasn't informed you to pay someone else. You have their word for the fact that they're 'not ripping you LL off', but I'm sure most conmen would give you their word too.

Not saying they're conmen, just that I don't think demands for payment on someone else's behalf can be made legal just because they said so.
