Child Benefit Farce

as i have said (at least ten times) - i have no issue with losing it per se. I have an issue that a family on £60k with one earner loses it, whilst a family with two earners on a combined £98k keep it. That is issue one.
Issue two is that one person should not be taxed for benefits claimed by another person. It isn't right under the system of individual taxation we have.
Either we have individual taxation or we have a family unit taxation. We can't have both when it only works in one direction.
I don't think anything I have said is controversial.
If they just stopped CB altogether, you wouldn't hear a peep from me.
of course it is right I put the benefit into an ISA - it is MY money being returned to me.0 -
Where do you live? I'll get a food parcel sent over ASAP.
Sounds like a double whammy. A reduction in benefits and, even worse, you might not be able to avoid the taxman by squirrelling your money into your kids accounts - the horror!
The White Horse hypocrite is benefit scrounging scum as well as tax avoider scum, puts him in the lower than something you'd wipe off the bottom of your shoe category.0 -

Now, White Horse, You have always been quick to judge others. Might be time to read your posts back to yourself. Not just this thread either.
Issue 1: Problem with your argument is you made it personal by going on about how it affects you.
Issue 2: Tax is a government issue and this government has decided that top rate tax payers should get a bonus next year and that you should lose your Child Benefit. What can I say.
As far as the ISA money, Child benefit is paid to your wife is it not?, so why are you putting her (or MY money, as quoted above) in to a Child's ISA to be returned to YOU at a later date. So exactly who is benefiting from this money in your house??.
So last point, just because you will lose it, (although those earning more should anyway) so should everyone else - what an arrogant selfish person you are, your family must be proud.Mortgage: Aug 12 £114,984.74 - Jun 14 £94000.00 = Total Payments £20984.74

I checked. Neither the Post Office nor UPS deliver to cloud cuckoo land.
Actually, I'm none too happy about some of Osbourne's policies. I'm going to withdraw every penny from my Cash ISAs (and Mrs LM's) in protest! That'll teach 'em.....0 -

If paying more tax on your savings doesn't force a change in policy you could consider buying your gin and cigars in the UK as well. If that doesn't force a U turn I don't know what will.0 -

Forgot this one, White Horse: Would the above direction be the opposite to where you would wish it to be.Mortgage: Aug 12 £114,984.74 - Jun 14 £94000.00 = Total Payments £20984.74

this makes no sense at all.
it does affect me - so? that makes the argument invalid does it? i don't think so.
your issue 2 makes even less sense. you have just stated what they have done. we all know what they have done. I am saying what they have done is wrong. what are you saying?
the isa point makes even less sense. the money is in the isa for the child, not for me. I provide for them. that is some money for their future - something this government preaches we should do, but actually stops most people from doing so.0 -

again, this makes no sense.
you either tax a family unit as a family unit (ie two individual allowances or one larger one) or you tax people individually. it's not hard is it? i fail to see which bit you don't understand.0 -

Exactly!
I have one more weapon up my sleeve. I'm not yet 65, but when I am, I shall refuse to claim my state pension. I'll tell Osbourne to put it in trust for the White_Horse kids, in case they ever grow up and discover that their father has raped their ISA funds in protest of government policy.0 -

Why bother putting in an ISA, thought they for 16 and over?"If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....
