HSBC Loan PPI Claim - Advice needed

Hi all,

I have recently made a PPI complaint to HSBC for 2 personal loans I have had with them in the past. I did not have any of the relevant paperwork to reference but wrote to the PPI department in HSBC requesting that they look at my claim for the loans I have had in the past. They sent back a letter stating they were going to investigate my complaint for 2 loans. Great I thought.

Well, I've just received a letter saying they are going to uphold the one claim and have offered me £1,100 as a settlement, however my other loan (Personal Graduate Loan) they state they cannot honour and say that I was given an information pack at the time of taking out the loan and that I had 30 days to cancel the PPI for this loan. Therefore they see no fault on their behalf.

What I would like some advice on is, should I except the £1,100 for the one loan and then pursue the other claim through the Financial Ombudsman, which I am apparently entitled to do? What are my chances of having HSBC's decision overturned for the graduate personal loan if I went to the Ombudsman?

I think HSBC are trying it on a bit here, thinking I will just except the one claim and forget about the other, therefore they wont have to payout on 2 loans. Am I right in thinking this!?

Shall I take it to the Ombudsman?

Thanks all

Depends on your reasons for complaint and your evidence to support your allegations.

No, that is tin foil hat thinking. Most likely one is lacking in an audit trail suitable to meet requirements but the other is. However, without knowing your reasons for complaint and your evidence to support those reasons it is difficult to say.
