Dithering about feedback

After much dithering on my part I decided to keep 2 items which were not as described as they were still quite good bargains and as the sellers would not pay for return postage, I had to weigh up the cost. One was described BNWT but when it arrived the tag was a gift tag complete with the babys name and who it was from, the other was described as new but needed cleaning.

I am dithering between leaving no feedback or neutral and stating item not as described, do you think it is harsh to leave a neutral?

Thanks

  • I think if youre deciding to keep the items and the seller had been unhelpful? you would be justified in leaving a neutral...

You could contact the seller and let them know that youre thinking of doing this and see if it prompts any reaction?

They may come back with some sort of offer of discount (possibly!?) if they are less than forthcoming then leave a neutral, you would be more than justified
  • I would personally say a netural is fair. You;ve decided to keep them so I think a neg would be too far but they;re clearly not as they were described to you either.

Mind you I'm no eBay guru so I;m sure someone else will be along in a few mins to let you know if we're thinking on the right lines :D

To be honest, if something is described as 'New with tag' and obviously has never been used, and then I would ignore it and leave a positive, even if the title is slightly misleading.

But to describe something as 'new' when it has been worn and/or is grubby is deliberately misleading and I would neg for that.

I once bought a black dress described as 'BNWT' for a posh do - but when it came it had white deodorant marks under the arms  The return postage meant that it was not cost effective to send it back, so it went straight to the charity shop. And yes, I did leave a neg, there is no excuse for that.

Thanks I don't feel comfortable emailing the sellers to try to get a discount but I do feel that it is these little things that irritate as they are misleading and therefore can attract higher bids. The item described as BNWT should have been described as without tags as the only tag was the gift tag and it certainly could not be offered to someone else as a gift. While the other item should have been cleaned before selling or described as used but without the 'as new' description.

I would not consider a neg but couldn't decide whether to neutral and mark the stars down for description as I have decided to keep both of the items or not leave feedback at all.

This can be seen as feedack extorsion, so best not to mention it.

Personally would leave a neg - item clearly not as described and they should refund you in full. Your not comfortable leaving a neg so a neutral would be the best choice for you.

I would neg both. BNWT does not mean a gift tag!

Think I'll advertise all my things as BNWT for Christmas ;) imagine their joy when they see they've got a personalised gift tag on their item from yours truly :D

Thanks, actually you're right this has just put it into perspective for me. It was a designer item and the only tag on it was the designer gift tag. Had it been any old gift tag the seller would not have left it on and therefore would have to sell it without tags. I'm rambling but I know what I mean :rotfl:
