Aqua Credit Card

Hi
Since March of this year I sucessfully completed a 5 year debt mangement plan with Payplan,I am totally debt free but my credit history is very poor for obvious reasons,I want to build my credit score back up,and thought applying for a credit card was a good option, I intended to pay it back in full every month and just use it now and again.
I scan all the different cards and choose the Aqua card as this is designed for people with bad credit and want to rebuild it,I applied online and wasn't given an instant decision just that they would contact me in 7 to 10 days, does this just mean i have been declined or they need extra information???
If it comes back as declined does anyone have any solutions on credit rebuilding or is it a case of just leaving it as it is??
Any advice would be greatly appreicated

The reason you got into trouble was credit, and the moment you're out of your debt management plan you're thinking of getting credit again.

Maybe its time to leave credit alone for a while?

I have a learnt a lesson i don't intent to ever get in debt again,i just want to build my credit score and the only way to do this by reading posts on here and seeking advice is to have credit but show you can pay it back in full every month! I held my hands up and sorted my debt out some people leave it and hope it will go away, being in debt is no fun and when you had a credit score before that was worthy and now one that is shot i personally just want to rectifiy it!
  • i know how you feel as I also have a very low credit score. What i would do is open an account with privacyguard.co.uk (experian credit ref agency) and checkmyfile.com(Callcredit and equifax) - both are free for 30 days. Its quite horrifying what I found on my file - multiple account entries for the same lender/account !!!! Not a problem if that account is ok but cant help your credit score if it isnt. i was thinking of applying for an aqua card byt just think I will be declined once again. You can get a secured card from capital one; the only down side is you have to pay a security of £200 but they do give you a £200 starting credit limit and this will help to improve your credit score if you manage the account well.

Fair enough, Aqua and Vanquis are your friends then, especially Vanquis. If neither of those accept you, then wait 6 months and try again. Repeat until accepted :-)
