Hi, i have been looking around at netbooks, most i see seem to come with 1gb ram which i find a bit dissapointing, especially in the price range i am looking. i seen this SONY VAIO SVE1112M1EW 11.6" windows 8 Laptop for £399 which looked great apart from when i read reviews on it, the processor in it is on par with a calculator lol
the main things i want is an ok processor, i know it wont be an i5 or i7 in that price range, i would like at least 2gb of ram, 4 would be great. im not to bothered about the graphics, windows 8 would also be nice, although if it hasn't i can always upgrade later. bluetooth would also be nice, but again if it hasn't thats ok.
The screen size can be anything from about 8" - 12"
Or would i be better looking for a decent spec 1gb ram model and then just upgrade the ram myself?
if anyone can help with a decent netbook in this price range, can you please give me some advice?
thanks
james

A netbook, by definition is weak. It's going to have an atom processor.
If you want a small, decent spec machine, you'll be looking at an ultrabook, really.0 -
thanks for your reply, i hadn't looked much at ultrabooks but after a quick look i guess you are right, i guess same question though but for them maybe if anyone can help?0

Sounds to me that you are looking for something outside the Netbook spec.
Maybe retitle your thread?0 -
my general advice for buying a laptop is to get the best processor (and gpu if needed) you can find, ram upgrades are dirt cheap and you can put an ssd in for reasonable cost now to increase performance - just make sure you can expand the ram.
netbooks are not great imo (i've had two, one is still here levelling a desk!) but at the same time, I think you'll be pushing it to get a decent spec ultrabook at that budgetThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. E2-1800 actually OK as a low end laptop CPU.
However, you can find last gen E450, 11.6" laptop at £280. It would make you think twice if you really want to spend extra.

If you want i3, i found this

However, please note that these machine have shorter battery life when you compare to netbook with intel atom.0
