Do smaller dogs leave their mums earlier ? I thought all dogs were min 8 weeks unless she wasn't feeding them and they would do better away from mum

A friend of our family is looking to adopt a rescue Jack Russell, but perhaps not until the new year. She has not been well mentally and we think another dog would be really good for her. I will post pics if she does!
