It's not even free to enter online!!!

Hmm, call me naiive, but I assumed that if you entered a competition online, it would be free to do so.

Not so with channel 5 competitions, where you need to enter credit card details.

Wonderful stuff.

Its getting more common. I'm a fairly regular contributo to the competitions forum. One of the sites I post from is the Daily Mirror's, but I only post the free comps as the rest of them are £1 BT Click & Enter. I've also seen the same on GMTV and Channel 4 competitions.

it costs £1 to enter from using a mobile phone and on the website for gadget it says
"*Please note, if you choose to pay by debit card, you will be billed £1.50 by Ymogen, £1 will go towards your entry to this competition and the additional 50p will be credited to your Ymogen account for you to use with future competitions. If you pay by mobile or credit card, you will be charged £1."

They get round the gambling laws by asking a terribly difficult question, eg:

    Who wrote Beethoven's 5th Symphony:
    a) Ludwin van Beethoven
    b) a pound of carrots
    c) Barwick-in-Elmet

Anyway, judging by recent news, you've no chance of winning unless you're related to somebody in the production company or happen to be touring the studio or something..?

    Is the answer "C"?

Noticed this myself when i got attracted by pizes on the gadget show.

I refuse to pay to enter on principle.

If we all did it these pay to enter ones would die out.
Hi there! We’ve had to remove your signature. It was so good we removed it because we cannot think of one so good as you had and need to protect others from seeing such a great signature.

Given that the answer's Ludwig van Beethoven, I wouldn't bother spending the £1, mate. ;)
