What is this part of the roof called (pic included)?

Part of the concrete strip under the tiles fell off my roof yesterday, luckily I was out at the time as I came home to find brick sized lumps of concrete on the drive where my car was parked just a few hours earlier!

I need to arrange to get it repaired but would like to know whether it has a name/purpose so I don't ring up asking about getting a 'concrete thingy' repaired!

'Tis the verge. Don't let anyone talk you into putting up a plastic "dry verge" either, They look tacky. Get it repointed.

It was only quick as I'm sitting here waiting for the next development on another thread whilst I'm doing some paperwork and your's popped up. Anyway - hope you feel better armed tomorrow now.

it would have orginally been done by the tiler, however any general handiman should be able to sort this out for you
