Bathroom downlighters

We put downlighters into our bathroom about 4 years ago. They are all as per the reg regarding lighting in bahrooms, zoned etc. But I have never been happy the with overall lighting effect. They have glass covers over the fitting. Is it correct that if the ceiling is 8ft or higher than regulations for downlights (other than the fire reg) need not apply. I have been into other bathrooms all fairly newly refurbed and the down lights are LED, do not have a glass cover and give a terrific light. I would like to change all ours to LED. Just wondering if anyone can advise. many thanks Liz

No not quite. Anything up to 3m above a bath or shower and up to 2.25m 60cm either side of said bath or shower must be rated IP44. Otherwise its fair game.

You can use 12 volt lights and these don't need to be 'enclosed' like the IP44 lights.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0
