I Can't See It Ever Ending

My overdraft that is.
Sorry - rant coming along now.....
I'm so down and I hate being like this, it really takes so much effort to drag myself out of this sort of mood.
Last year I had to borrow more money because we got broken in to (sorry to harp on about that) and we had to make security improvements which we did.
Now, last week some little sh*t got into our back garden in full view of a busy road (people just don't want to get involved do they?) and attempted to break in again. Luckily they didn't get in but the fact is they got into the garden and they tried. They have damaged the doors but nothing that we can't sand down and re-varnish - it's not anything that will deteriorate and put the doors at risk - that's one good thing I suppose.
So, anyway, today we've had to shell out £90 on getting some beefy Chubb locks supplied & fitted to our French doors. Boyfriend paid for it but I need to give him a bit more money towards it as it was a bit more than we anticipated.
We're also getting another alarm box fitted to the back of the house tomorrow which we had to buy as well as another door sensor alarm strip - about £65 all in total (including someone putting it up for us).
We've got to have some more trellis put up, bloke just quoted £120 to supply & fit!! No way are we paying that. Getting another quote tomorrow but I suspect it will still be quite pricey so we'll probably end up trying to do it ourselves (and screw it up no doubt as we're totally crap at anything DIY) but we've still got to buy the stuff.
I was really banking on getting my overdraft down to just about zero by end of June but that's so not going to happen now. There is always something and that what I have come to realise - there is always something that fooks up your plans.
I just don't think I will ever be in the black and it's driving me nuts. I really resent having to shell out cash on more security because some little b*****d thinks it's perfectly OK to scale a fence and try to break into our house.
IT'S NOT OK! I feel so angry about these things sometimes! Not just for me but for everyone who suffers through any form of crime or anti social behaviour. I'm hardly expecting Utopia but there's so much crap people have to put up with everywhere everyday and it just p's me off.
It's still 2 weeks till pay day as well then after that it's yet another 5 week period till the next pay day at the end of May
I just don't know if I can take this any more. But what's the option?
I just feel like hiding under the duvet and staying there, I feel horrible like I just want to give up.
My boyfriend is gutted he's got no money left now either. He was all depressed earlier and when he gets down it affects me too.
Oh sorry for the rant but where else can I do it if not here?
Please don't feel you have to offer any advice on security or anything we really do know exactly what we've got to do, what prickly plants to get for the garden etc etc. It's not really about that.
It's just me feeling sh*t because I can't see and end to this bottomless pit which is my overdraft (and I can't move banks either).

Oh Looking Ahead, I'm so sorry and I completely sympathise.
I too have an ongoing struggle with an overdraft which I wrestle down to nought every so often then it plunges right back up.
it can feel like an endless, joyless struggle but we should take comfort from all the people on here who have done the impossible and got rid of debts as large as ours and larger.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -

Oh LookingAhead, so sorry to hear your feeling down, so many people seem to be feeling the same way on here at the moment.
Its so annoying that you have to spend so much money keeping your own stuff safe and away from the thieving barstewards. My son had his bike pinched from the garden last year, someone walked into the backyard past the front room window, down the side of the house and pinched the bike from under the living room window when we were all sat in the living room at the time. Couldn't believe the nerve of the person.
I ended up spending £100 on wrought iron railings to stop people getting into the garden. I was so annoyed. So I really know how your feeling.
These 5 week months don't help either and it sometimes seems as though everythings going against you.
Keep your chin up, you've done a great job in getting your debts down and you always have a postivie word to say to everyone whose feeling down and ready to throw the towel in.
You rant away hun, but don't give up. Big ((((((hugs))))))0 -
aww LA. have some hugs....i know it wont make the overdraft go away tho:(
i know you an old pro at all things dfw but have you popped up a SOA lately...sometimes a fresh pair (or hundred pairs) of eyes might spot something you havent?
anything to ebay?
i really dont know what else to say hun:( i know this overdraft has been a struggle for you and i really feel for you and bf. all this hassle with people trying to break in costs lots of money to make you feel safe but that in itself is worth it.
hugs,

I know and to think the little old lady who put barbed wire around her property because she had been broken into so many times actually got prosecuted by the police and was made to take it down. If you had got hold of the little b....... and given him a thick ear you would have been the one in trouble not him, you would have been up for assault.
We used to have this problem in our last house as we backed onto an alleyway and our shed was broken into. Also my son was in the dining room once on the computer with the curtains drawn and someone tried the back door. He was only about 11 at the time and it really freaked him out. I dont know what the answer is, but believe me I do sympathise with you; Ive been there. I also sympathise with the having to spend money when you think you're doing well because its happened to me loads of times and it really makes you feel down. When I think about it, the washing machine is making a strange noise and my iron has stopped working.
Anyway LA, dont give up. Its just a setback and theyre like buses, they do happen from time to time. They make you feel like sh.. but then a month or two passes and youre back on track and its a distant memory till the next one.The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0 -
Thanks everyone, you're saying things I need to hear. Thank you.
I might pop up and SOA at some point JD, you're right, won't do any harm will it?

Lots of hugs LA :grouphug: :grouphug:
I know what you mean about those thieving little toerags - when you work hard for what you have it really makes my blood boil to think that they think they've got the right to come and steal from you!!! My son was SITTING on his bike last year when it was stolen from him. He was only just 13 at the time and is very small for his age. He was really shaken up as there were 3 of them, but I was just grateful that he wasn't hurt. If I could have got my hands on those little sh*ts .....urghhhhhhhhhh:mad:
Keep your chin up LA - hopefully things will get better soon and with the lovely weather we have at the moment that might help to lift your mood. Take care. When you were born, you were crying and everyone around was smiling. Live your life so at the end, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying! :rotfl:0 -
