Hearing Loss Benifit

My husband who used to work in a noisy environment has been contacted by a company who CLAIM they can help him with claiming compensation for Noise Indused Hearing Loss. They say they can do the hearing test (He is virtualy deaf in one ear and has limited hearing in the other) for free and offer help in claiming the benifit for free but I am very unsure of this, The letter for the appointment is from Advice Direct web address is www.advicedirect.co.uk but this just goes to a domain homepage with nothing about the company.
My husband is now retired and cash is limited, his appointment for the hearing test is on Wednesday 31 October 2012 can anyone advise me please is this a scam?

No reason why you can't claim yourself.
If there is any compensation to be had seek legal advice.Forums can be/are a good guide to entitlement and it is good practice to back it up with clarification from the relevant department/specialist with written confirmation to safeguard yourself.0 -
I'd agree - do it yourself. However, there are some very odd rules, I looked into it for my OH who has profound loss in one ear and medium in the other. He failed to qualify as his loss was over 10 years ago and although it was right type of industry, he was not with me when it occured, so alas we could not get it. If it was the right type of workplace and less than 10 years back, I should think it will happen.0
