Can I end an auction early?

I have an item on ebay with an hour left and no bids! I thought I would get up to £25, but with no bids i think it will end up going for 99p. If I end the auction what are the penalties? Thanks for any advice, I am an ebay virgin!

You can't is the simple answer with less than 12 hrs to go.

The answer is 'possibly'. It used to be that auctions could not be cancelled within 12 hours of them finishing, but just recently some of us have noticed that we have been able to end an auction. All you can do is try.

You won't get in any trouble but it is all a gamble, you gambled on a low start (as a new seller probably not a good idea) but you also need to gamble that there ar eno snipe bids that will go in at last minute.

You can't end a listing less than 12 hours before the end of the listing if the item has a winning bid:

Hopefully you managed to end it before a bid was placed.

If you have the ebay app you can end the auction whenever you like I've found
