Returning item not as described

Hi
I recently bought some trousers off ebay but when they arrived they were not the brand advertised but a far cheaper brand. I have contacted the seller and she has said she will refund me if I return the trousers.
Is it fair for me to ask the seller pay my postage for returning the item on top of refunding the costs of the auction itself? If I have to pay the postage for returning them it's barely worth sending them back for a refund because they only cost a few pounds inthe first place.
Also, how will I know the seller will actuallly refund me my money when they receive the item? I have never had to return an item before and I'm not sure what the etiquette here is.
Can you help me out?
Thanks

i think that as they weren't as described, and if the seller does not specify in their terms that buyers who return items have to pay postage, then the seller should cover return postage.
This is what i have done twice in the past when a geniune mistake was made in my listings. I have just looked at the postage on the front and added that to the refund with 50p if they havent reused my packaging.
have a look at their feedback. If it looks good, they probably won't want a neg. How were they with you when you said you wanted a refund? if they owned up right away then you may be ok.
if you send the trousers make sure to post recorded delivery so you know, and have proof, they are received by the seller.0 -

Their mistake so....
Parcel up and send 2nd class... (make sure you get a COP Free of charge)
No real need to bother with recorded delivery... (or rather I wouldn't) the COP covers you for up to £28 and if the seller does not receive them, (or claims not to) you get to claim £28 for the trousers anyway.
Advise seller returned and total due to be refunded, = Final price + Postage.
