Open and closed accounts..

Afternoon all , I have obtained my credit report from Equifax and have some questions im hoping you can help me with..

I believe I have had PPI on a couple of cards in the past and I would like to see how this PPI was sold to me or whether it was added on to the credit agreement..

If an account has been settled and is now closed will I get anywhereby sending the template letter with a £1 cheque or do I need to request a SAR ?

The same question applies to accounts that I dont use anymore but havent closed down i.e old store cards etc

I have looked at these PPI forms that the companies ask you to fill in but are these only to be filled in once you are sure you have been misold PPI i.e. received the information back and then thought I have a case here ???

Section 78 of the consumer credit act only applies to accounts that are still open or debts outstanding. So, you cant use that method. DSAR will need to be used. However, do be aware that the agreement may not show if PPI was on the card.

The claims company forms mirror the free one from the FOS. There is nothing wrong with having PPI. So, knowing if you had it or not does not help a complaint. You still need reasons for complaining.

Yes, no point trying to fill them in without solid evidence of a miss sale.
  • Thanks for the responses

is the DSAR letter the one which is accompanied by a £10 cheque ?

I cant remember ever asking for PPI or being sold it however out of curiosity I would like to know if the PPI was ever added to a credit agreement as a lump sum or to a monthly payment without my knowledge.

Yes that is correct, and if you want to request for a SAR, there is a link to the full template here below.

Also just to confirm that if you taken out several finances out with the same business, one SAR with one payment fee of £10 covers all.
