BT Billing

Have I missed something? I am fuming. I pay my line rental to BT in one annual payment because obviously it is much cheaper.
It says on their website that they will send a reminder when it is due for renewal, but they haven't done this. I just checked my account online and they have issued a bill charging me the full rate for line rental for the forthcoming quarter.
So, I went ahead and ordered the line rental saver and paid the £129 via credit card and noticed as I was going through the process that it now states "monthly billing" - what is this about?
Have since spoken to someone from their call centre on the other side of the world and he said they will not take payment for bill just issued as my account will now be £129 in credit. Won't they have to deduct some extra though to cover the more expensive charge they made for the line rental?
Totally confused

Hi Melbury,
Sorry to hear you didn't receive your reminder, to renew your line rental saver. If you have signed up to the offer again any over charge on your current bill will be refunded back to you when your next bill is produced.
I can take a look at your account to make sure the billing is correct. Please can you send me in your details using the link found in my profile?
Thanks

BT assure me that they will not be collecting the billed amount as I have now paid £129 line saver rental.
I just hope that in future they remember to send me an email advising when bills are raised so that I can view them online and also a reminder about paying the annual line rental.
I couldn't find a link to you, only to the BT website!!Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0 -
They sent my reminder to my old @btinternet email (unused since I left btinternet 3 years ago) and not my registered address that they send bills to... I also noticed they say I am now going onto monthly billing, which seems to be a recent change. I will see if I get an automatic refund of next quarter's rentall already charged or whether I have to ask for it like I did last year.0

I think the monthly billing still applies to cover the cost of calls made or any extra calling plan you have.
The monthly billing must be a change as I am on LRS and stll get quarterly bills.
Yes when you sign up to LRS any advance line rental you have paid is credited back to your account.0 -
Have just gone onto LRS last month. BT credited account with prorata amount of line rental paid in advance. Put us onto montly billing as opposed to quarterly. Already have online account and can see what is going on. We hardly use BT for any daytime calls - just making full use of the weekend/evening call package which we pay for. End result for us is a credit on the account which I assume will be used for any charges until such time as the account goes into debit and then they will use the DD on our account on a monthly basis.
Well that's what I'm assuming and time will tell!!0 -

Just be careful with them jokers! I went onto monthly billing & set up a plan of £25 a month after I received my November bill,BT then tried to take £36 at the start of December, when I rang to find out why,I was told that they'd recalculated my bill & £25 wasn't enough so they increased it & they had informed me in my December bill...Which I didn't receive until the 6th December,so how could they tell me something in a bill I hadn't received as yet.
Don't put anything past these jokers when it comes to billing!0 -

I am ..not happy with BT, they sign you up to a good deal, and add a little extra to cover anything, extra calls..etc, then hit you a bit later on asking for more money.
I was told to go on Whole Bill Direct Debit (Monthley) this would stop the charges..if I was told this two year ago..then I would of done it..as bad as that is, BT do not inform you when its time to renew your contract, thus..because they have not taken there discounts off..you get a big bill...0 -
This thread http://community.bt.com/t5/Bills-Packages/Line-Rental-Saver/td-p/632330 may help to explain the recent change in their Terms & Conditions.
Anyone who signs up or renews their Line Rental Saver contract will now automatically be changed from quarterly to monthly billing.0
