Renting between sale and purchase - will this mess up our mortgage chances?

We are in the process of trying to sell our house, and are considering making ourselves end of chain by briefly going into rental (or even living in our caravan for a short while), to at least get the sale sorted. As well as making a slightly more attractive buy, it would also allow us a bit more thinking space for what we buy next, rather than being pressured to buy due to being in chain.

But we still need a mortgage for our next purchase, and not sure what the implications are if we've only been living at an interim address for a month ore two, or even in the caravan?

Does anyone know what lenders expect in this regard?

    May be an issue with credit checks (esp with the caravan0 but if in rented, get yourself on the Electoral Register immediately. Most credit checks look at previous addresses so as long as you are linked to your previous address, should be OK

    Bear in mind most tenancy agreements are for a minimum 6 months, but given that it will take you a month or 2 to find a place, and buying takes another 2 -3 months, that's close to 6....

    After the initial 6 month fixed term, don't be coerced into signing a 6 month renewal - switch to a 'Periodic' Tenancy (see here).
