Scottish Power, capped tarrif.

I am with Scottish Gas and supposedly on their capped until 2014 tarrif, yet I have just recieved an e-mail from them, telling me that my gas prices are going to rise from December. I really don't understand how they can say that I am still protected under the capped tarrif but still increase my gas charges, just doesn't make sense, ( not to me anyway ).:(

What company are you with Scottish Power or Scottish Gas?

yes capped is different to fixed, all capped does is make sure the price doesn't rise above a certain level. As Scottish gas reduced their gas prices earlier this year and are now increasing their prices you are seeing this movement back up to your capped level.

I am also with southern Electric for both Gas and Electricity, which I think is part of Scottish Power, is this true? I switched to M&S Tarrif instead of Southern Electric, and was told that I am not affected by the increase, does this sound right?

No, Southern Electric is part of the SSE (Scottish and Southern Energy) which is nothing to do with Scottish Power.

M&S is linked to SSE they do a fixed tariff as well as a standard one, if you switched to the fixed tariff then no it will not increase.
