Holes in floorboards of rented property

Hello, i have moved into a two bed rented apartment in leeds and a couple of the rooms have wooden floorboards. There are many holes and large gaps in the floorboards and I am worried therfore about cost of heating and more than that, the ability for mice to get in.
Is the landlord legally obliged to fill these in?

No, not unless they are large enough to create a safety/trip hazard.0 -
No, they aren't if these dodgy floorboards were in plain view when you saw the property before agreeing to rent it.
I suggest you think about getting some carpeting down.0 -
They were not clear when looking at the property. They are in corners or were covered by rugs. Doesn't the landlord have an obligation to fix anything which could give easy access to mice? A friend of mine had mice when they moved in and apparently the landlord had to fix holes in walls etc because they were giving easy access.
edit:
this thread seems to suggest it is the landlords responsibility if someone has just moved in and there are issues structurally with the property?

Nope, I would point out the faults to the Landlord/agent and ask if they would be prepared to carpet the room.
If they wouldn't, life's to short to give a !!!! so I'd just go get a rememant and put it down myself.Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?

Don't worry about mice unless you have any evidence of them, landlord will need to fill the holes IF they are actually being used as access for vermin. Gaps in the floorboards will be providing ventilation which will help keep the property free of condensation damp in winter which is actually to your benefit, no surveyor would class them as a structural fault with the property! :rotfl:
Mice won't be interested in your home if you don't feed them: all dry goods in sealed plastic or metal containers - pasta, rice, breakfast cereals, flour etc. Clean up all crumbs on floors and worktops regularly including under and down the sides of the the white goods and furniture, no pet food left down overnight, don't randomly eat food all over the house, stick to the kitchen and dining room.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0
