Experian problems

in Credit cards
I wonder if anyone can help me. I've had problems getting credit for years due to the fact that I have the same first initial and surname as my sister, who has had problems in the past with creditors. I explained all this to Experian, and also gave them notice of financial disassociation from my sister. Experian explained that because there is no way that they can differentiate between our information (despite me supplying them with detailed information) the best that they could do was put a note on my file to the effect that I am not the same person as my sister, who has the bad credit. Since this has happened I have applied several times for new credit cards, and have been turned down by all but one, who only accepted my application after I went through an appeals process which involved them looking my file. Because of my reluctance to go through the appeals rigmarole every time I apply for credit, and also because I am worried that I will be damaging my credit rating even further every time I apply for one, I have stuck with my current credit card. However, I would now like to transfer my balance to another one as I am paying high interest and getting further and further into debt, but fear the same problem will happen again. Experian gave me the impression that there is nothing more I (or they) can do about the situation, but that seems ludicrous. My last correspondence with them was about 3 years ago so I am wondering whether anything might have changed in the meantime, otherwise I am going to spend the rest of my life being turned down for credit and having to go through long and complicated appeals processes just to change credit cards/apply for loans etc. I'd be most grateful for any ideas anyone might have!

That seems a slightly stand offish approach from Experian?
You don't by any chance have the same DoB do you?
I know my brother and I share an initial and when I first applied for credit I removed all of his data from mine on the basis of his date of birth. Both Experian and Equifax were very helpful in the matter though! The above facts belong to everybody; the opinions belong to me; the distinction is yours to draw...0 -
Do you live at the same address? If not there shouldn't be a problem.

Different lenders use different CRAs. You shoud add a notice to your files in all CRAs, not only Experian.0

We used to live at the same address, and virtually have the same names, hence the confusion I guess. Perhaps I should appeal to their good nature and try again! Thanks0
