Hi

I'm looking for the best deal on Gas & Electricity for a house that will be standing empty for a few months.
One of the best deals I can find appears to be Scottish Power's fixed rate 'till April 2014. U-Switch seem to suggest that if I use 200kW of Gas 45kW of daytime electricity & 30kW of E7 electricity per year (mainly to keep the pipes from freezing) that when they take into account the dual fuel discounts, etc, the avereage anual bill will be minus £4.55

Can't beleive that this is correct? Am I missing something?

Thanks

Hi Nigel27 if you are using next to no electricity and gas on a tariff that has discounts then it could well be that your quote is actually in credit for the year. If you need any specific help please e-mail onlinecomplaints@scottishpower.com and I can assist. Thanks David @ ScottishPower

I think you will need to use a lot more than 200 kWh p.a of gas (about £7 worth) to keep the pipes from freezing in an empty house.

About 10x that would usually be required as a minimum. Are you sure you are not confusing metered gas units with kWh?
