Uswitch shows my supplier offering the best tarriff
Hi,
I have just done a comparison of my gas and electricity via the uswitch web site and my current energy supplier, npower, is coming out top with a saving of almost £300, if I switch to another one of their tariffs (Energy Online January 2014). My current tariff comes to an end in November. Has anyone tried to use uswitch to switch tariff for their current energy supplier or does anyone think this will cause problems?
The reason I ask is that I went through quidco who are currently offering £35 bash back if I use uswitch.
Thanks
Chris

Hi, no you cannot switch through a comparison site to a different tariff with the same utility company.
What tariff are you currently on , I would have thought that if you are on a 'tied in' contract Energy Online January 2014 would be higher not £300 lower. ??
On average useage and their standard tariff Energy Online January 2014 is only £199 cheaper, so your current tariff does seem excessive.0 -
I would be surprised if you find ANY tariff that is cheaper than a current fix unless you are on a very bad deal. What is your current tariff called?
Double check using correct consumption figures for a whole year. If you guess or enter partial figures, the comparison sites give answers which are nonsense.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
Hi,
Thanks for your replies.
I'm currently on a sign online 23 tariff but have just received a letter informing me that my current tariff will exipre on the 6th November and I will switch to their Save go S tariff. So my comparison today was against npowers save go s tariff. I used the figures for consumption that npowers provided in the letter.
Thanks

Hi again, on average consumption figures UKPower is showing Go Save to be £287 dearer than you are paying and Online Energy January 2014 to be £93 extra than you are currently paying. Where does the £300 saving come from ??0 -
Hi Keith,
Thanks for your reply.
Npower are putting me onto a new tariff, Save Go S, as my current one is about to expire, Sign Online 23. Therefore as of the 6th November I will be on the new, more expensive tariff. My comparison was based on me being on the Save Go S tariff, to be clear the near £300 saving is based on this comparison.
I agree the new tariff is a lot more then my expiring tariff, which is why I completed the comparison in the first place.
Also, I appreciate that I will probably have to pay more than I do now. However my goal is to minimise the impact.
I do appreciate your comments but they are a little off topic, as my original question to asking if you can change tariff for the same utility company via uswitch. The other information was provided for background.
Regards,
Chris0
