Faulty Zanussi Fridge Freezer Under Guarantee

Our Zanussi Fridge Freezer was purchased online through Marks & Spencer on 18th July, 2012. Just over a week ago we found that the fridge part was very warm and the freezer part seemed to be overcompensating but frosting up, as if the door had been left open. I called the service centre but the day the engineer called the fridge suddenly began working again! He looked it over but couldn't find anything wrong. However a week later the same thing has happened again, and I have had to empty the fridge and put the contents in a plastic box in the garden as it is colder out there! This product is just over three months old and has already broken down twice. This intermittent fault is causing us to throw away food which has spoiled. Has anyone got any advice as to whether we should just reject it and ask for replacement/refund or keep phoning the service centre. Hopefully this time the fridge will stay warm until the engineer arrives.

  • I have now done that as it needed a new defrost timer after just three months which wouldn't be available until December! Called Marks & Spencer, who we bought it from, with an exchange code and they said they could deliver new one next day. However, they failed to bring new one and wanted to only collect broken one instead. Freezer is still working and full of food, so I didn't let it go. Warehouse said they would deliver new one and collect next day, but same thing happened. After assuring me new one was on van to be delivered today just got a call to say that it wasn't on van after all. Asked for refund but they refused until old one is collected. Told them it was full of food and they could collect it after new one was purchased but they refused. Exasperated called my daughter, who was told a new fridge would be delivered early tomorrow (her request) and if this doesn't happen we will get a refund. Is she better at this than me or are they saying what suits? We shall see. I am exasperated by M&S. I don't want to have to throw away a lot of food again and make an insurance claim like I had to three months ago.
