So I got into the final of a vote-to-win competition - rules on asking for votes?

Hey guys!

I entered a competition, and I've got into the final where people have to vote for their favourite entry.
To say I'm excited is an understatement as the prize would be one of my dream prizes!

So my question - I don't want to tread on toes or break any MSE Forum rules, but is there somewhere I can post the link and kindly ask people to vote for me?

It would be amazing for me to win as if I won (unlikely but would be a dream) I'd love to take my Mum who has just been given the all-clear of cancer.

Please let me know if there is anywhere I can post the link.
If I can't that's fine, I just thought it would be worth asking as I know MSE has a great comping community :)

Thanks guys :T

Wins : McCains garden games set, 2xTickets to Alton Towers, Links of London friendship bracelet, 2xIdeal Home Show tickets, McFly album CD, Virgin Balloon flight for 2 with a case of ScrumpyJack cider and 2 ltd edition jackets, Powerboat racing experience, £50 Virgin voucher, Aerobie Pro flying ring & Rice Krispie squares, Tesco baby pack

Hi its not really allowed on here, but if you accidentally made a post in IWIW forum asking for votes it may just be enough ;)

(and you could just add link in your post)

No one actually reads that thread though...

Rules seem slightly "Hitler-ish" in my opinion.

I once posted a thread saying that I needed votes and that if anyone was interest could they pm me for details. This got removed even though I hadn't listed any comp details or posted any links. Plus the person who informed me that it was against rules was less than polite.
Thankfully there are some lovely people like chelsea1969 who helped me out and I actually won. Will get my butt over to referrals..

I'm torn about the voting thing. Voting comps are flawed. People should vote for whatever they genuinely prefer, but in reality people vote for people they know regardless. I'm as guilty of this as anyone.

Would a workable compromise be to post for voting help in the referrers, but allow a link to that post in the Comp Chat Corner? Perhaps with a closed thread, so that nobody can comment other than on the referrers board? It would mean more work for the BGs to close the threads though.

Although I don't like those comps, we are a team and it's nice to support each other. With vote for me comps, perhaps until we can beat 'em, we might as well join 'em?
