International 3rd party insurance

Hello,
I may be interested in buying a new, circa £400 item from the USA. The issue is that the seller isn’t set up to trade with Europe so anybody who does want to buy from him does so at their own risk. Postal insurance is not included and returning the item to the USA would be prohibitively expensive if something did go wrong in transit.
Can anybody recommend any 3rd party insurers who would be able to accommodate this?
Thanks.

Yes, Ebay and Paypal have all the 'third party' insurance you need. Is this an Ebay/Paypal related transaction?0

He can send the item to you via the US postal service. They insure items up to $25,000 depending on what service used. Looking at the website (and it makes the Royal Mail website seem concise and clear) it would seem to depend on what the declared value is as to how much you can insure for, but I can't see any indication of actual amounts. Might only be something your sender can find out.

Oh and don't forget that with an item of that value you will also have to pay import duty and VAT on it and it's your responsibility that the declared value is correct and the customs form is filled in correctly.
Oh and one final point if you're looking to have it sent in the next few days then the Hurricane that the eastern seaboard is just about to experience will probably hit the delivery time.0 -
I'm going to ask my CC company anyway, but do you think that standard S75 cover would protect me should anything go amiss?0
