Central London's still a pretty big area and different tube lines (and don't forget buses) go through different bits of it. There's not much point being on the Central Line if it turns out that you're working near, say, Westminster. I suppose though, if you really, really have to find somewhere to live before finding out where you're going to be working, you'll never go too far wrong with the Central Line.

Local markets in the more multicultural areas and some of the ethnic shops generally seem to have the cheapest food. Not Borough Market though :rotfl:.
    Saving for deposit: Finished! :j
    House buying: Finished!
Next task: Lots and lots of DIY

avoid like the plague. its the worst line out of the whole network. but anyway you can get into town easy with non tube links. it's cheaper and u can easily get an ensuite for £600. I've seen some for £400 in zones 3-5.

victoria line is good for central links though, so anywhere NE and parts of SW is great.

I live very near Tottenham Hale and there isn't really very much in the immediate area which you will find of interest, apart from the Lidl in the retail park. Although it's very handy for getting the bus to Walthamstow market where there is oodles of cheap fruit & veg to be found. The best (almost the only) thing about being out here is the fast transport links: 20 mins to Oxford Circus and 10 mins to Liverpool Street.

Camden might look attractive to an outsider in the day-time but it's dirty, noisy and absolutely full of drug-dealers. I don't think that it's one of the safest of places for a female to be out and about late at night either: my niece is a Police Special and some of the thing she tells me about would make your hair curl! Mind you, that local thug Mark Duggan was shot by the police last year within sight of my own front door, so what do I know?

Without getting into tube wars - I find the central line swift and reliable. I get it every day to and from work, and normally the wait for a train would be under 1 minute. In the 4 years I have been commuting I would estimate there have been less than 10 major incidents that caused me to have to get different transport.

The stats may be slightly misleading as the trains are so frequent that a small delay can impact a lot of trains, but they may still only be a minute or two apart.
