output 6v (line with 3 dots under) 200mA 1.2VA
AC-DC adaptor

Do not get the shaver adaptors (I think you have already realised this)
Proper adaptors cost a bit more but anything like this should do.

Can't see what's wrong with using a shaver adaptor, most are capable of taking a two pin European.schuko plug. That gum you like is coming back in style.0

Agreed. Two of those adaptors come to best part of £10 which is probably a sizeable portion of the value of landline phones.0

Poundland UK visitor adapter

Halfway down on right hand column
Not sure of the price but if you try a few 99p shops you might find one even cheaper.0 -

I think shaver plugs are slightly different from ordinary continental plugs
Edited to add:
from wiki....
Shaver plugs.........has 5.1 mm diameter pins 15.88 mm long and 16.66 mm apart
French plugs........two round pins measuring 4.8 by 19 mm spaced 19 mm apart.
One might fit the other (with or without force) but if you are buying something then you might as well get the correct one
OP, if you particularly want to keep the phones then you could look at sourcing complete power supplies.0 -

You've met my dad then.
he has uk to EU adaptors for everything, so you can imagine my surprise that he actually had something with a french plug on them.0 -
