Why can buyers cancel bids within 12 hours?

But sellers can't end an item within 12 hours (with said bids?)
Surely that's open to abuse by buyers? Another crazy ebay imbalance.

Buyers can only cancel bids in the last 12 hours within an hour of Placing the bid. So it really only serves a use for people who bid the wrong amount or something and realise it straight away. Actually I was going to say that but I wasn't sure. I'm not sure what the current situation is as I very rarely end auctions and if I do it's within a few hours of listing due to an error.
The 12 hour reason was to stop off Ebay transactions, where an auction was running and someone offered the seller a price to end the auction. Not only does it lose Ebay fees it annoys last minute bidders who were waiting to snipe..0 -

That's what I thought as well. Nope, still not letting me end an item with 12 hours or less to go and has some bids on.
Just get an error message.0 -
