Ooh, me, I have a tip, I only heard it recently and I've been dying to share!! Empty the hoover after each use, otherwise it uses more power pushing around the stuff you have already collected!! It probably sounds really obvious if you already do it but I tend to wait until it's full.
Also make sure you look after the appliances, regularly descale irons and kettles, clean out hoover filters, not very mse if they blow up due to not being looked after.
Good luck, I'll be following your thread as I need new ways to save too0 -
Happy Birthday! You are doing so well! Here's to the next year of moneysaving! :beer:0

fairyface never give up honey you are doing so well.I know it seems like an uphill struggle but you will feel so good when its done and out of the way.Frugality is second nature to me and I often say even if I had stacks of lolly I would find it hard to just spend, spend, spend. When ever I look to buy something especially foodwise I think 'can I make it cheaper/better myself and if so then I google the recipe if I haven't already got it and have a go myself. Also rather than buying new ingrediants I will try to substitute them for what I already have indoors. As a previous poster said treat your way of life as a 'home business' and in business you wouldn't waste anything unnecessarily would you.My aim is to get full use of everything that I spend my cash on whether its food or clothes. If you have gadgets/clothes/books etc you don't use ebay them and have the money instead towards paying off you bills.I reuse and recycle as much as I can and my rubbish at the end of the week barely fills a carrier bag.Dustman don't get a great tip from me at Christmas

Adding my (rather belated but I love birthdays that last for more that one day
) happy birthday wishes to you fairyface, and reiterating what others have said. You've got this far so don't give up now, the first step is always the most difficult and you've taken it already so you're well on your way :T.
People on the forums are always ready to help and support as I discovered myself in the past, so please don't quit but keep coming back and keep posting. Good luck0 -
Just finished my 3 hour Monday morning shift, the manager mentioned someone could not come in later as they had flu, I offered to do their shift, and the manager(who only works part time) said I will be doing their hours as I need the money for christmas, how annoying when they have cut my hours by half:mad:going to spend the rest the day cleaning and tidying house, at the moment as I am a new seller I can only sell 20 items a month on ebay, I have sold one, got 2 with bids on, but need to go round house and find another 9 items, shouldn't be difficult, then I will do some more surveys, dont really know what else I can do, I am taking Jackie's advice and trying to run the house like a business, so trying to get into a good routine, will post again soon.0

just read your whole thread!
so sorry to hear about the job situation, and what a tactless boss! are you thinking of a second job? I've seen the big stores advertising for short term staff for christmas.
don't give up the thread now,you are doing so well, and your little band of followers will gee you on.
didn't know that about the hoover bag thing, will try that.
dog bones- can you get raw bones from a butcher? how much are they?
i have a 4 month old jack russell, am sure he'd like a fresh bone! he's tried the roasted ones (shop bought) but they are not cheap.
my money saving tip-
no more kitchen roll and countless cleaning products.
microfibre cloth, washing up liquid, stardrops and disinfectant is all i use now,for any job around the house!
just read a good book-from the library i may add-"live more,spend less"
also,a blog i love is "Complete guide to imperfect homemaking"
good luck.LIVE SIMPLY * GIVE MORE * EXPECT LESS * BE THANKFUL0 -
Hi Asparagus, I get the dog bones from morrisons, they are under 50p for a few usually, and no I work locally we do have 2 cars but one is for sale, as we only need one now, where we live it wouldn't be viable to travel for a few hours extra, so will have to do what I can in the job I'm in and just keep eyes peeled for local vacancies, just have to cut back more and more, I have just got a journal to keep record of all the direct debits and worked out the finances properly, not much left at all for these debts, keeping a record to of grocery spending, also keeping a note of extra money made through car boots, ebay, surveys etc. This is so hard and these debts make me worry so much , but do you know what I am enjoying doing something about it, will keep plodding on.0

thanks.
could you maybe offer a dog walking service? you will be walking your dog and being paid for it!!
or ironing?
keeping a record is a great idea, then the obsession will kick in!lists, lists and more lists!!LIVE SIMPLY * GIVE MORE * EXPECT LESS * BE THANKFUL0 -
Hi fairyface, just wanted to say well done on everything your doing.
Was also wondering if your other half could open a ebay account in his name, then you could at least sell more stuff.0
