I am getting these almost every day now! I do have caller ID, and I've looked at my phone manual and phone but you need to enter the area code to block. Unfortunately this doesn't come up on these calls.
Any (free/cheap) solutions please?

I would certainly like to know about a call blocker that can block calls from numbers for which BT on dialling 1471 reports "We do not have the caller's number..."".....where it is corrupt, purge it....."0 -
There are a few threads on this forum about the truecall device.
They also have a website.

Does such a thing exist?

You may have Caller-ID turned on, but a call may still arrive without a Caller-ID because the Caller-ID has got ‘lost’ in the telephone network – in this case the Caller-ID is shown as ‘Unavailable’ on your phone. This is not the caller’s fault – it used to happen quite frequently when a caller who used one telephone operator calls someone whose phone service is provided by a different telephone operator. It happens less frequently now.
trueCall helps you decide how to handle a call by telling you if the caller’s number is unavailable. When the caller’s whisper is announced trueCall will say “You have a call from … Bob … Callers number unavailable”. If you don’t recognise Bobs name or voice you may choose to send him to trueCall’s integrated answering machine, and screen his call through trueCall’s speaker so you can decide whether to pick up or not.
While you can’t put someone whose number is unavailable onto your Star or Zap list, you can still Zap them – trueCall will tell them that you are not interested in their call, and ask them not to call you again.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
Thanks JohalaReewi and Heinz! I've had a quick look at Truecall's website and will investigate further.".....where it is corrupt, purge it....."0

I have a Truecall device at home and at work...it's brilliant! Well worth the £90.00 and you can take it with you wherever you are using a phoneline.0

A cheaper option which you can look at is the global callblocker.
When I bought mine they did a phone offer which was cheaper than buying online.
Comes with a 30 day money back if not happy guarantee but ours has stopped all the nuisances getting through.0 -
