Kitchen net/curtain ideas?

I have a small kitchen window which curently has nothing covering it.
It measures 50 inches by 37 inch drop (to the window sill)
I'd like to get a covering that lets in as much light as possible, I was thinking of a net jardiniere kind of thing, but can't find anything I like.
I also like the idea of swags, but they all seem to hang about 18" which is too low.
I'd like to be able to use my window sill without the net getting in the way.
I'm not much good at this kind of thing, and wondered if anyone has any advice?

anything against a roller blind which, during the day will let the light in from the whole window.
I hate curtains at my kitchen window, they soon start to discolour and smell because of the cooking but each to their own I guess.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

Me an all, currently doing up the house and we are going to have nothing up at the kitchen window, but then we aren't overlooked.
To OP best bet is something that can be taken down and washed regularly0 -
You could try using voile which is sheer enough to let light in and very lightweight so could be taken down and washed easily and quickly?
Must agree though that a roller blind would probably be best overall.Stopped smoking 20th October 2012
This year I will have something that resembles a garden and not a building site!0 -
Thanks for the advice
