transco charges

I am a scottish power customer.

Recent price rises have prompted me into looking onto switching but I not sure how to compare like with like as none of the switch sites include the transco charge.

The switch sites say that I can save by switching to npower or ebico.

But how do I factor in the transco charge. Will it be the same for any suppler? I heard that British Gas doesn't pass it on?

    It's quite irrelevant.
All you pay is the 'sticker' price on the tariff.
You never ever pay transco anything (as a domestic consumer)
What happens internally to the supplier, and how they pay their suppliers is something you don't care about.

I know it is nearly Halloween but transco is long departed so no one pays them anything. That aside the transportation costs paid by suppliers to National grid and the the appropriate gas net work for your area are a matter of contractual agreements and could be deemed in such as private, I am sure that ofgem dictate levels of charges permitted.

The only time you as customer of any supplier would know anything about such charges is if you have an independent gas transporter in which case you may see a separate charge appear on your bill and in such a case you would simply have to shop around to see who can offer best deal for you.
I am responsible me, myself and I alone I am not the keeper others thoughts and words.

I think you may mean that you have your pipes installed by an IGT ( Independant gas transporter). If this is correct I believe there are a few suppliers including BG that do not charge extra for this.

As others have said above - I suspect the OP is talking about independent gas transporter charges. You just need to find out which suppliers don't charge for it.

Apparently 5 of the big 6 don't charge extra now.
Only nPower charges extra, and it's only a tenner per year. :)

Thanks Wywth. I also checked a couple of other sites and found that some tariffs for the big companies do charge and some do not so suggest anyone with an IGT asks the correct question of whichever company they use.

I found this info too. http://www.moneysupermarket.com/gas-and-electricity/independent-gas-transporters/
